This policy is written for PDFBreeze’s launch-stage service and is intended to remain suitable as additional tools, user accounts and paid plans are introduced.
1. Who we are
PDFBreeze is operated by Northstar Ridge Limited. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal information when you visit or use PDFBreeze.
Where UK data-protection law applies, Northstar Ridge Limited is the controller of the personal information described in this policy, except where a third-party provider acts as an independent controller.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use PDFBreeze, we may collect:
- account information, such as your name, email address and login details;
- billing and subscription information, while full card details are normally handled by a payment provider;
- support messages and other communications you send to us;
- technical data such as IP address, browser, device, operating system, referral source and approximate location;
- usage data, including pages viewed, tools selected, errors and interaction events;
- cookie and similar-technology information.
3. Uploaded documents and file content
When a tool requires a file, PDFBreeze may process the document and its contents to provide the requested function. Some tools may operate mainly in your browser, while others may require secure server-side processing.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have authority to upload and process each document. We do not sell document contents or use them to target advertising to you.
Where temporary server processing is required, files are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to complete the requested operation, resolve technical failures and meet security obligations. A specific tool may display a more precise deletion period.
4. How we use information
- to provide, maintain and improve PDFBreeze;
- to process files and deliver requested outputs;
- to create and manage accounts and subscriptions;
- to process transactions and prevent fraud;
- to provide support and essential service messages;
- to monitor reliability, performance, misuse and security;
- to comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements;
- to send marketing where permitted and with an available opt-out.
5. Lawful bases
Where UK GDPR applies, we rely on one or more lawful bases, including performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, and consent where required.
6. Sharing information
We may share limited information with providers that support hosting, storage, authentication, analytics, email, customer support, security and payments. They may process information only for defined purposes and under appropriate safeguards.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect users or PDFBreeze, during a corporate transaction, or with your direction or consent. We do not sell personal information.
7. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for account administration, service delivery, legal compliance, dispute resolution and security. Retention varies by data type. Uploaded files intended for temporary processing are treated separately from account and billing records.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information, including encrypted transmission, access controls, monitoring and restricted administrative access. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
9. International transfers
Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use recognised safeguards such as adequacy regulations, contractual protections or another lawful transfer mechanism.
10. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to receive a portable copy of certain information. You may withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
Send requests to support@pdfbreeze.net. We may need to verify your identity. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
11. Children
PDFBreeze is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information should contact us.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service, technology or law changes. The revised version will be posted here with an updated date. Material changes may also be communicated through the service or by email.
